Estonian Beef Breeders Association (EBBA) was established on 21st of June 2000. While the number of beef cattle at that time was 1,000, today, in 2015, the beef cattle total is more than 64,000. Half of the beef cattle breeders in Estonia are the members of the association.  

The objectives of the Association include:

  • Promotion of rearing and breeding of beef cattle
  •  Marketing of pedigree animals and beef
  • Contributing to the organisation of beef cattle breeding, keeping herd books and conducting performance testing in cooperation with the Animal Breeders’s Association of Estonia (ABAE) and Estonian Livestock Performance Recording Ltd (ELPR)  
  • Protecting the interests of beef cattle farmers when it comes to agricultural subsidies, environmental regulations, or other topics.  
  • Organisation of different events, including information days, study trips, shows, sales days, etc. (Trips have been taken to beef breeders in Scotland, Switzerland, France, Canada, Italy, Finland, Sweden, Czech, Latvia, Lithuania, etc.);
  • Participation in various international cooperation projects.

Estonian Beef Breeders Association unites beef farmers of all breeds of beef cattle and represents their interests. Inside the association there are departments or so called breed clubs for those who are more interested in one specific breed.
