But also, in order to choose the best purebred bull as part of the performance test, a traditional beef cattle show will be held on 05.04 at 13.00 on the territory of the insemination station of the Animal Breeders Association of Estonia in Keava. On this occasion, the evaluation will be conducted by the Finnish judge Maiju Pesonen. After the show, an online catalog will also be prepared, which will be published no later than 12.04 on both EBBA and ABAEs website and FB.

Bulls of the most common breeds in Estonia – Aberdeen- Angus, Limousin, Hereford, Simmental, Charolais, Blonde d`Aquitaine – are presented in the show ring. The results of all bull pedigrees and performance tests can be viewed in advance in the ABAE website menu BEEF  – PERFORMANCE TESTING- 2023-2024

Beef cattle breeders, with the goal of acquiring a new purebred bull, are invited to take part in the championship of beef bulls in order to select a new purebred bull that is just right for their herd, so that it will be easier to make a choice at the auction.

Anyone who wants to appreciate the work of our breeders and all those who have contributed to their development, testing and checking during the last six months, is invited to participate in the Estonian Best Breeding Bull 2024 show in Keava on 5th of April.

And if you want to recognize the breeding of Estonian beef cattle and the result of the work of the only performance test of this kind, you can make choices to buy a new breeding bull for your herd through the online auction on 26th of April, using the online catalog that will be created immediately after the show!

We are slowly getting to know these stars better and the first 2 weeks of adaptation in the performance test of young Estonian beef cattle in Keava have passed unnoticed, and we have to admit that our eyes have not yet seen such a pace of increase in live weight during the adaptation period. 🙂 We can only conclude from this that our beef cattle breeders have made very good choices in the selection of young bulls targeted for the performance test, both in terms of growth potential and character. In addition, the previous homework, i.e. the weaning process, has also been well done, so that the animal is as free as possible from at least one possible stress factor when it arrives in a new environment.

Yesterday, 01.11, half of the experimental group moved to another farm, where their feed consumption will be monitored and recorded by a special system from the Canadian company Vytelle, which is used today in many leading cattle-breeding countries. This system has been in use in Estonia since this year.
After about 2 months, it is clear which young bulls from this group have the most efficient use of feed and thus the smallest environmental footprint.🍀

The performance test of beef bulls is carried out in cooperation with Animal Breeders´ Association of Estonia (ETKÜ) and Estonian Beef Cattle Breeders´ Association in order to promote Estonian beef cattle breeding.

In order to introduce the young bulls to the general public before making choices and decisions, and to present the prevailing level in Estonian breeding herds, a new online catalog has been prepared, in which you can find all the information about the online auction as well as about the bulls themselves, with pedigrees, pictures and videos  , which will open when you click on the YOUTUBE sign.

In addition to the exemplary and valued exterior, all bulls are-

with verified pedigree!
veterinary checked, and declared healthy for at least 9 investigated diseases!
checked feet and hooves!
with controlled sperm quality!
social and received halter training!
linearly rated!
Aberdeen Angus bulls are tested for myostatin and limousines form horniness and double muscle gene!
All Aberdeen Angus, Hereford and Limousin breed bulls are genome tested!
  Judged by the Swedish judge Miranda Lysell at the competition held on 05.04.23 in Keava, where the best of all breeds and the overall winner or Champion of all Breeds and reserve winner were chosen!

The performance test of beef bulls is carried out at the barn of Animal Breeders´ Association of Estonia (ETKÜ) in Rapla County, Keava in cooperation with Estonian Beef Cattle Breeders´ Association since 2006. The performance test which started in the fall of 2022 is coming to an end, which means, that you can purchase the best breeding bull for your herd at the online auction on April 27, 2023.

But in order to select the best breeding bull within the performance test, a traditional beef cattle championship will be held on the territory of the insemination station of the Animal Breeders’ Association of Estonia in Keava on 5th of April at 12 o’clock. On this occasion, the evaluation will be carried out by the Swedish judge Miranda Lysell. After the show, an online catalogue will be prepared, which you can find no later than 19th of April on both EBBA and ETKÜ websites and facebook pages.

Bulls of the most common breeds in Estonia- Aberdeen- Angus, Limousin, Hereford, Simmental, Charolais and Blonde d´Aquitaine will be presented in the championship. And the first time in history of the performance test, a young wagyu bull from the Airi Külvet Puutsa farm will also participate!
